| From iGame Report: The Microsoft Kinect motion technology is on the tip of every gamers tongues in regard to Microsoft's conference. Microsofts hidden gem that could turn the gaming arena on hits head, Sony has its Playstation Move controller but it is has more information about how it will actually play. Whilst MS offering doesnt, there are many ideas and rumours about games that have or will incorporate Kinect. But only a select few casual games can function properly so far with the camera. Here I will talk more open minded about the genre ideas. How will developers use Kinect for say a platforming game? Or a Shooter? These are my ideas for some different genres. | |

| Microsoft Kinect: So 'hardcore' it will kill your Grandma June 25, 2010 at 1:51 PM |
| Chris Jager of GamePro writes: "After spending some quality time with Kinect at this years E3, we can confidentially report that there is nothing even remotely casual about the experience. Sure, its launch line-up might star cuddly lion cubs and cutesy avatars, but appearances can be deceiving. Kinect is set to deliver some of the most gruelling battles of your gaming career, forcing you to learn unfamiliar skills from head to toe. Its like the Nintendo Wii on steroids. The amount of running, jumping and ducking that these games demand is so intense, one of our colleagues almost puked on the showroom floor. Now thats hardcore! If you attempted to play this thing with your Wii-loving grandparents, they would almost certainly expire on the spot. (Hell, it almost gave me a heart attack.) Thats right ladies and gents: Kinect is so hardcore it can kill your Grandma. | |

| Kombo writes: "A lot of hardcore gamers (aka: awesome dudes) want to get their waggle on. For this chart we've made a few assumptions. The hardcore gamer bought all three consoles at launch and has waited until this moment to make a decision on which motion controller he would settle on. To help guys like that decide we've put together another chart that will compare the cost of Wii Motion Plus, Kinect, and Move controllers." | |

| Red Dead Redemption: Outlaws to the End impressions (Gamertell) June 25, 2010 at 12:30 PM |
| Gamertell offers its impressions of the free "Outlaws to the End" downloadable content (DLC) for Red Dead Redemption. From the article: "Right off the bat I must say weve payed for less content than this before. By putting out this DLC for free, Rockstar is essentially getting us all interested in Red Dead all over again. Joining a posse is arguably the best part of multiplayer. Having structured missions that dont dissolve into knife fights between posse members makes multiplayer ten times better." | |

It was in the latter office that Deus Ex, under the supervision of Warren Spector, was made along with the less acclaimed sequel Deus Ex: Invisible War.

| Destructoid: The Witcher 2 Impressions June 25, 2010 at 12:01 PM |

Now, armed with a new engine and the promise that the game will actually make it to consoles this time, The Witcher 2 looks to be an even stronger offering.

| Singularity Eurogamer Review June 25, 2010 at 9:51 AM |
| Eurogamer: "Very little here hasn't been seen elsewhere before, but Singularity has more to recommend it than simply being a polished, entertaining collection of well-executed clichés and set-pieces. It's the first game I've played in ages that realises first-person shooters can bundle in as much philosophy and as many moral dilemmas as they like, but fundamentally they're still about shooting monsters in the face, and so what it lacks in originality it makes up for in variety, pacing and exuberance. First-person shooters are always silly! Well done to Raven for making one that likes being silly." | |

| Maybe if the price was halved IGN would feel a little easier about the thought of people buying Manhattan Project, but at its release its a rip-off compared what else is on the market. Nostalgic fans will no doubt defend the game, but this is one stone of your past that's better left unturned. | GrE's Preview: Spec Ops: The Line June 25, 2010 at 4:56 AM |
| GrE writes, "It is always a pleasant surprise when you get more than you bargained for while looking at a game early. I came into the demonstration of Spec Ops thinking that I was going to be treated to a hybrid of 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand and SOCOM, so my bar was VERY LOW. In a strange twist of fate that even left me scratching my head afterward, I ended up leaving the presentation excited about the title. I guess thats what happens when you assume things..." | |
| E3 2010: Kane and Lynch 2 Developer Video Interview June 25, 2010 at 4:05 AM |
| DualShockers writes, "One of the games that seemed like it had a lot to prove at this years E3 was Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days. After all of the controversy that surrounded the first title, the team at IO Interactive and Square Enix decided taking their time before brining these two homicidal maniacs back for another round. It seems like that wait was a great thing because at E3 we witnessed what appeared to be a very polished sequel, with much better visuals, gameplay and more over the top action than the first. Our very own Al Zamora had the chance to chat with the games art director Rasmus Poulson, about the various changes to the sequel and to fill you all in on what to expect this time around. Heres a quick quote and probably our favorite from all of E3 Kane and Lynch 2 will throw you around like a little girl, and you will like it. That quote was said in a bad ass european accent that unfortunately I cant replicate..." | |

| What's Up With Xbox and GameStop? June 25, 2010 at 3:27 AM |
| François Chang, Contributing Editor of DualShockers writes, "Im going to start off by saying that my original Xbox 360 was acting real sketchy. It began making a lot of weird noises and sounded significantly louder. It almost sounded as if the fan was busted or overworking. In fact, I wouldnt be surprised if that was the case. It would also overheat every now and then. What worried me even more was that the overheating becoming more and more frequent. I decided to sell my Xbox before it was too late. Sell my Xbox before it got the red rings of death!..." | |
| Edge Interview: Peter Molyneux June 25, 2010 at 3:22 AM |
| Edge: With Milo And Kate absent from Kinect's showing at Microsoft's E3 press briefing and a relatively conservative selection of games presented instead, audiences were left wondering where the revolution was. Where is the "stuff that science fiction writers haven't even dreamt of yet" to which Peter Molyneux, creative director of Microsoft Game Studios Europe, has previously alluded? It might take some time, but it's coming, he tells us; don't be too quick to judge. | |

| Interview: Talking Audio June 25, 2010 at 1:31 AM |
| Against the obvious charms of graphics, game audio still finds itself undervalued and underfunded, with some audio specialists claiming only six per cent of a game's production budget being dedicated to it. And yet audio is on the up and ever evolving. | Amanda Schuckman of Game Rant writes, "If you, like me, clocked excesses of 70 hours in Fable 2 and ended up being a real estate baron to rival Donald Trump, than your head, like mine, would have imploded from sheer glee and that peculiarly ravenous sort of satisfaction that comes from being a hero in Albion. It felt good to be back. Better than it had felt the last time, in fact, with the changes to gameplay the gang at Lionhead Studios have implemented for this new installment." | |

| Co-Optimus: E3 2010 - Hunted: The Demon's Forge Hands-On Co-Op Impressions June 24, 2010 at 10:30 PM |
| Co-Optimus: There were a lot of games to see during last week's E3; some of them co-op, others not so much. Amidst all the announcements, demos, and chaos, though, there was one co-op title that Nick and I were eager to get our hands on and try out - inXile's upcoming co-op action/adventure/puzzle title, Hunted: The Demon's Forge. Initial previews of the game likened it to "Gears of Warcraft" or "Spears of War," and those wouldn't be too far off, but the game certainly seems to promise more. | |
| GamerNode: MindJack Hands-On Preview June 24, 2010 at 10:30 PM |
| The idea established in Gamecube's Geist takes a new host on the PS3 and 360 in Square Enix's just-announced title, MindJack. The game features a full campaign mode, though only the multiplayer was available for demo at E3 this year, but this is where it gets weird. Essentially, you play as a disembodied brain. Seriously, the main character in multiplayer and single-player is an immaterial brain that takes shape only when it possesses a wide variety of hosts (in third person), ranging from strippers to bodybuilders to soldier to cops to drones to cybernetic gorillas. Intrigued? | |
| GamerNode: Dead Space 2 Preview June 24, 2010 at 10:30 PM |
| Immersion was the name of the game when it came to the Dead Space 2 gameplay preview at E3 this year. The hands-off demo was showcased in a small, dark room illuminated only by the screen and a few stained glass windows. While sitting in the pews and perusing "The Big Game" Unitologist literature, the lights dimmed and the demo began, showcasing a level early on in the game where Isaac Clarke explores the frozen crypts underneath the Sprawl's large Unitologist compound. The soundtrack is as eerie and foreboding as ever, the lighting in the crypts emit an ethereal blue glow, and Isaac Clarke is alone once again with what can only be a fantastic horde of necromorphs just waiting to be dismembered. | |

Even more than fan obsession, however, is the debate between college and professional sports. | E3 '10 Hawt Graded: Medal of Honor June 24, 2010 at 8:06 PM |
| HawtWired: "What's Hawt: EA's first foot forward since losing the WWII first-person shooter crown and it looks great. The visuals are nice and the multiplayer plays well enough to stand with the best of them. And having the former makers of Modern Warfare games as -- potential -- development consultants should only help elevate Medal of Honor's quality further. What's Not So Hawt: Quite possibly too similar to Modern Warfare 2? I didn't get to try out the single-player portion of the game but from what multiplayer showed me, it may be aping MW2 too closely. The level I tried out felt like a remake of the "Crash," but with less camping spots. If you loved MW2's multiplayer, Medal of Honor should deliver, but for the rest of us...the campaign will be the one to watch for some innovation. Hopefully." | |
| Activision: Business Is Good, And Getting Better June 24, 2010 at 7:43 PM |
| During this in-depth interview with Gamasutra -- conducted during last week's E3 trade show in Los Angeles -- Thomas Tippl, Activision Blizzard's COO, could barely say "$3 billion in cash with no debt" without cracking a smile. While many publishers are facing major difficulties in the complicated game marketplace of 2010, and are trying to re-entrench in a landscape that's ever-changing, Activision is currently riding high, as the industry's leading light, from at least the business perspective. While there have been controversies over the company's relationship with its talent which spring from major layoffs and, of course, the situation that ended in the departure of Infinity Ward founders Jason West and Vince Zampella, the company has had nothing but success with its Blizzard studio and Call of Duty franchise, with World of Warcraft and Modern Warfare 2 topping the PC MMO and console game charts. | |

| The New Xbox 360 Slim is a Big Step Backward June 24, 2010 at 4:37 PM |
| Techland: "As a tech journalist I have a good record with firsts. I'm pretty sure I was the first journalist to see the iPhone. Ditto the Wii. Also the Xbox 360: in the months before it came out I spent a lot of time in Redmond with J Allard and the other guys who were building it. So I remember well my first look at it. It was different. It was curvy. It was feminine. It was friendly. It was a special custom color that J called "chill." So yeah, that's over. The new Xbox 360 isn't chill, it's black. It's not curvy, it's angular. It reminds me of nothing so much as the first Xbox." | |

| Move vs Kinect: It All Adds Up June 24, 2010 at 4:00 PM |
| With the current topic of various motion controllers and their pricing gaining a lot of attention, just how much will everything cost and is Microsofts rumoured Kinect pricing too large? Its a hard question to answer considering the price of Kinect has still to be announced by Microsoft, but, going by the current favourite of $150, Ive attempted to look at the overall cost for those wanting to become an owner of all the technology needed. The following information is based on average prices on the internet. Cheaper versions may well exist if you shop around but this is based on people that would normally only use the larger retailers to buy from. Please note that the Kinect pricing is completely based on estimations at this time. | |
| Co-Optimus: E3 2010 - XCOM Hands off Preview June 24, 2010 at 3:44 PM |
| Co-Optimus: Whenever you take the name of a popular franchise and then shape it to be that of your own, the controversy surrounding it usually speaks louder than the game itself. It's a shame really because this is the field that XCOM has sowed as it's a first person shooter based on a classic PC turn based strategy franchise. | |
| Fallout New Vegas Eurogamer Preview June 24, 2010 at 3:44 PM |
| Eurogamer: "What comes to mind when you hear the word Vegas? Elvis? Showgirls? Marg Helgenberger swabbing semen off the underside of roulette tables? Or post-apocalyptic landscapes, warring mercenaries, plasma rifles and robot policemen? Welcome to the world of New Vegas, where the house always wins. In fact, the whole place is run by one Mr House, a mysterious overlord who maintains order with the help of those robot policemen, known as Securitrons. They patrol the strip, which is just as brightly lit and busily populated as it ever was. Vegas isn't about to let a bit of war get in the way of fun." | |
| Co-Optimus: E3 2010 - Brink Co-Op Hands On Preview June 24, 2010 at 3:33 PM |
| Co-Optimus: Brink has been a game I've been following with intense anticipation. While I was immediately gripped by the style of the game, it was the 8 player cooperative promises that tickled my spidey sense. Having played the game for a good 30 minutes at E3 - including checking out the myriad of customization options - I'm happy to say I think Brink will deliver when it launches early next year. | | | This email was sent to maryanto999.gameconsolenews@blogger.com.
