Delayed Nintendo DS game also coming to PlayStation 3, developed by Level 5 in association with Japanese animation house.
In 2008, Japanese animation house Studio Ghibli partnered with developer Level 5 to create a Nintendo DS game called Ninokuni. The role-playing game was announced for the portable device exclusively, but a new report reveals a PlayStation 3 iteration of the game as well. Andriasang reports that the latest issue of Famitsu contains a two-page spread on a PS3 version of Ninokuni that has not been officially announced outside of the publication. Level 5 has developed the Professor Layton series of games for the DS, as well as the PS3-exclusive White Knight Chronicles. The studio is currently working on its sequel, White Knight Chronicles 2. While Studio Ghibli is best known in the West for the films of director Hayao Miyazaki, he does not handle everything the company produces. The studio also boasts the highly regarded talents of directors Isao Takahata (My Neighbors the Yamadas), Yoshifumi Kondo (Grave of the Fireflies), and Hiroyuki Morita (The Cat Returns). The animation studio also created the 2009 Disney film Ponyo. For more on the DS version of Ninokuni, check out GameSpot's first impressions.
