Torchlight developer Runic Games has announced the sequel to its hit Action RPG, Torchlight 2. The game includes new character classes, quests, monsters, dungeons and pets! Torchlight 2 also now includes the much requested cooperative play through a free, peer to peer matchmaking service. Awesome!
“We’re so proud of everything Torchlight accomplished, and we feel that Torchlight II will not only give the fans everything they’ve asked for, but far surpass its predecessor in terms of fun, balance, customization, story, and just being a great game to play with your friends,” said CEO Max Schaefer. Torchlight 2 will make its debut at Gamescom 2010 in Cologne, Germany later this month. Runic Games confirmed it has put off developing its MMO project until this sequel is completed. Here’s hoping that Torchlight 2 tides us over until Diablo 3 splashes onto the scene. “We still are going to make the MMO, but it became apparent that Torchlight II was the logical next step for us given the phenomenal enthusiasm of gamers petitioning us for multiplayer.” Torchlight II will be out this coming spring, initially as a digital download, for PC and Mac. It looks like EA has a lot more in store for the Sims franchise as they unveiled a new game called The Sims: Medieval! Yep, Sims: Medieval is a brand new Sims game set in the days of swords and sorcery. Note that Medieval is not an expansion to The Sims 3 that merely allows your suburban sims into fantasy land, but it is a standalone game with kings, castles, knights, wizards, quests and more!
IMHO The Sims has gotten a bit stale in the past iterations but it is good to see EA trying to see if the Sims formula will work in other settings. Me? I’m waiting for The Sims: Galaxy, The Sims: Outer Space or something…wait..i think they already released that as SPORE =) |
